Funeral services were held Sept. 26 at First Freewill Baptist Church, Sulphur, for Billy Mitchell Courtney, 27, who died Sept. 23 at the Oklahoma City Veteran's hospital. Rev. Meryl Erickson, Rev. Jim House and Rev. Lesslie Thompson officiated. Interment was in Oaklawn Cemetery, Sulphur. Arrangements were by Clagg Funeral Home.
Born December 3, 1955 at Lorraine, TX, he lived in this area most of his life. He graduated from Sulphur high school and was married to Renee Carter March 18, 1977 at Sulphur. He was a machinist for Halliburton, a veteran of Viet Nam serving in the Marine Corps, and a member of the First Freewill Baptist church.
Survivors include his wife, Renee, of the home; one son, Jason Randall of the home; his parents, Billy and Martha Courtney, of Sulphur; two brothers, Michael Dean and Danny Fremont, both of Sulphur; three sisters, Lorrie Denise Nail, Kelly Pearline Bowerman and Shirley Dawn Courtney, all of Sulphur; and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Courtney of Davis.
Pallbearers were Jim Garrison, Robert Reeves, Ray Bazor, Don Brown, Benny Pidgue and Danny Hilliard.
